WiTopia.net provides a reliable, secure VPN service. It’s incredibly flexible, running effectively across a wide range of devices and operating systems, whilst also allowing you to manually switch between servers. They offer several packages, including the use of Cloakboxes.

The services are particularly useful if you are in a censored country or location and wish to access websites outside of that area. Cloakboxes also have more general uses, such as allowing a variety of devices (without inbuilt VPN access) to join your secure network. For example, you can connect smart TVs, games consoles and other media-streaming devices. The prices quoted include hardware, service and setup. Discounts are also provided for longer contracts which last several years.

The basic Personal VPN service most suits Mac or Windows, providing unlimited bandwidth so you don’t need to worry about your online activities. Unlike the pro package, this basic package doesn’t include 4D stealth or open VPN. However, you can try the system for just one month, which isn’t possible with the pro service.

The personalVPN pro service offers a multi-protocol VPN service with thousands of ports. You can also change the encryption options to suit your particular needs, meaning that it’s a little more flexible than some other services available. 

The Pro option includes a 30 day money back guarantee when you take out the 12 month plan. This is handy because it means you can stop the service before a month is up, and you won’t lose out. Whilst there’s no such guarantee on other services, the site seems to suggest that they don’t want displeased customers and are willing to provide shorter guarantees for shorter contracts. If this is something you want to know more about, we recommend checking the website or contacting the sales team.

We were pleased by the site’s use of live support, although it seems to primarily be for sales. They also have an online FAQ, but it’s not particularly well organized. WiTopia’s blog isn’t updated very often (the most recent post was uploaded 5 months before we signed up) which is a bit disappointing.

A free trial would have been really useful for WiTopia to provide. Whilst they do offer a guarantee on a year-long membership to their pro service, this won't cover everyone. However, we were interested by their range of services and products, which could help in a variety of scenarios. Whilst security is fine, pro members receive additional dedicated servers, which makes us wonder if the basic package has all it needs. All of this considered, if you're looking for a service which allows you to add a wide selection of devices to your network, this is a decent option.
