IP Vanish provides a superior VPN service, including downloadable software and apps, for a very low price. It has over 150 servers to choose from, is available on a wide range of platforms and offers online support if you’re ever in need of help. 

We were impressed by the number and variety of servers which you could connect to through IPvanish.com. The majority are in the US and Europe, but you’ll also find a few in South America and Africa, as well as various parts of Asia. This is particularly useful if you wish to access geo-restricted websites, such as TV streaming sites, as it’s easy to switch between servers so that your device appears in another country.

In addition, we were happy with the amount of online support provided by IP Vanish. If you can’t find your answers online, in the substantial (searchable) FAQ, you can contact the support team via email. Whilst live chat would be preferable, this support ought to work out because there’s also a Facebook page, blog and forum to explore in order to seek answers. You can also find tutorials for the software, guiding you through how it works and how best to set it up, which is really useful. There are also a range of useful articles to read about VPNs and operating systems.

IPVanish works on a wide range of platforms, including Windows, Mac OS X, Ubuntu, Chromebook, routers, Android and Windows Phones. Whilst some other sites also offer gaming consoles as options, this isn’t available on IP Vanish, so it’s worth bearing that in mind if you’re particularly interested in using a VPN server through your Xbox One or PS4, for example.

This service doesn’t always go above and beyond the call of duty, particularly since it doesn’t offer quite the range of features which we’ve found elsewhere. If you’re looking for a greater degree of control, you might wish to try this service out and then consider the longer contracts, since it may not have everything you’re looking for. That said, it’s certainly not exclusively for ‘beginners’ and should offer enough complexity to satisfy most users.  

Price is a big incentive to use IPvanish. It’s one of the cheapest VNPs around, particularly if you go for the 12 month option. There’s also a free trial of the iOS app, but not the other services. However, they provide a 7 day money back guarantee if you wish to cancel your contract. 

Users can connect to the service using multiple devices, with two simultaneous connections. This is fewer simultaneous connections that we’ve seen elsewhere, but more than many sites offer. VPN protocols include PPTP/L2TP or OpenVPN, which is somewhat limited if you wish to vary them, although mobile devices can connect using IKEv2, IPSec, PPTP or L2TP. In addition, you can set up a router (instructions provided online) and allow any connection to the VPN with any home device.

With low price options and a quality service, IPVanish.com offers great value for money. It’s complex enough for most needs, whilst remaining easy to use. It also comes with software which includes a step-by-step guide, and can be used on up to 2 devices at once. The range of platforms it can perform on is also impressive, making this a versatile, low-cost option for any VPN requirements.
