CyberGhostVPN provides a free or paid VPN service, supporting key platforms and devices. You can connect 5 devices simultaneously, utilizing more than 500 servers around the world. It’s easy to install and use, offering apps, unlimited bandwidth and the option to check which servers are quickest.
The free VPN is one of the best we’ve seen. It offers unlimited bandwidth and traffic, suitable levels of data encryption (to keep your private information private) and won’t keep logs on your activities. It’s available for Windows, Android or Mac, and is very easy to get going as the installation wizard is simple to use. We certainly recommend trying out the free option to see if it suits you, and then considering upgrading from there.
If you do wish to upgrade then you can choose from the Premium or Premium Plus packages. When we were researching this website they were offering a 50% saving on the Premium account, which meant it was under $3 a month – excellent value, considering the secure connections and quick service speeds. Still, the Premium account has its limits as you can only connect 1 device at a time.
Premium Plus allows you to connect up to five devices simultaneously, but doesn’t provide anything additional when compared with the Premium service. As such, it might be useful if you wish to have several devices connected to the VPN at once, but otherwise we don’t think it’s worth the price increase, especially since (when we were looking at the site) the Premium Plus account wasn’t included in the sale.
The Cyber Ghost VPN keeps your identity a secret online, and you can also pay using Bitcoin if you’d prefer not to have the services appear on your bank statements. The system uses an anti-fingerprint feature which prevents any trace of your whereabouts online.
We appreciated the servers page on this site, which allows you to check out which servers are in use and how well they’re performing. This means you can make a more informed decision about which one to use, which is especially useful if you’re transferring data.
CyberGhost can be used on a variety of platforms, including all the key players (namely: Windows, Mac, Linux, iOS and Android), although this could be expanded on to help improve the service and include consoles and other devices. Protocol information is somewhat lacking, although the site does explain a little about their use of P2P protocol, which is useful for file transfers. It also includes PPTP, OpenVPN and L2TP protocol, which again could be developed further.
If you’re looking for a free VPN service, CyberGhostVPN is certainly worth trying out. As for the paid service, this is still good and the sale prices offer excellent value for money. However, if you are having to pay full whack, you might wish to consider some of the VPN services which are at the top of our reviews list. Overall then, Cyber Ghost VPN has a lot to offer, particularly if you’re strapped for cash, but you might be best waiting for the site’s sales if you’re thinking of going for its Premium services.
